Summary of Changes from Previous Version
- An expanded section on “Behaving Professionally”,
which makes explicit behavioural expectations that are
merely implied in the existing document;
- Excision of specific examples in several areas, and
replacement with a principle instead;
- Collapsing of the content covered under several
smaller sub-areas into the broad category “Respecting
Others”;
- Much greater reference to, and reliance upon, other
VU policies as well as external laws and regulations;
- Substantial updating, expansion and clarification of
the Conflict of Interest section;
- Insertion of a new Section, “Recognising
Intellectual Freedom”;
- Insertion of specific “Breaches” section; and
- Complete excision of Part B of the existing Code:
the Toolkit – Are You Working the VU Way? This section
may be replaced with a new guideline or toolkit, but
the existing toolkit is outdated and would be
inconsistent with the rewritten Code.
