Summary of Changes from Previous Version

11/1/19 Accountable Officer changed to reflect new role of PVC Students (previously VP (Infrastructure and Students)).

26/2/18 Following the Student Retention and Success Policy being removed from the Academic Progress suite, reference to the Student Retention and Success Guideline was removed from ‘Section 7 – Guidelines’.

Reviewed and updated accordingly:

  1. Altered the wording to accommodate students studying in the First Year Model teaching blocks.

  2. Simplified rules for membership of the Show Cause Panel.

  3. Made student attendance at SCPs optional rather than mandatory.

  4. Removed the ‘Grace Semester’. The Grace Semester means that where a student’s Show Cause and/or Appeal period does not finish before the census date the student will be allowed to continue studying for one additional semester.

  5. Stated explicitly that students excluded from a course for unsatisfactory progress will not be re-admitted into that course for at least 12 months, and that they must be able to demonstrate an improved likelihood of success in the course.

  6. Amended to comply with 2018 ESOS Standards.
